Sydney Asbestos Consulting's air sampling ensures the person (client) who commissioned the licensed asbestos removalist to undertake the removal of asbestos, that the control measures are effectively containing asbestos dust and respirable fibres during the active asbestos removal operation. Without air monitoring the client has no analytical assurance that the asbestos removalist has not caused significant concentrations of airborne asbestos fibres to be released & contaminate other areas.
Asbestos air monitoring is mandatory before & during Class A Friable asbestos removal operations, including where an uncontrolled disturbance of in situ friable asbestos has occured. Air monitoring ensures the effectiveness of control measures and for the issue of hygiene clearance.
Asbestos air monitoring must only be conducted by a SafeWork NSW Licensed Asbestos Assessor for friable asbestos removal or uncontrolled disturbance.
Asbestos air monitoring should also be considered during non-friable asbestos removal operations that are in or next to a public location or there is uncertainty that the asbestos removal control measures are effective or have deteriorated due to inadequate maintenance, changes in asbestos removal work methods or there was an uncontrolled disturbance of asbestos at the workplace.
